Riley's New Bedroom

Riley is a bright, funny, and determined young man who has touched the hearts of everyone around him.

Born healthy, he took an unexpected turn after developing severe neurological challenges. His family began noticing that he wasn't reaching the developmental milestones they expected. Doctors eventually discovered that Riley's brain had not developed myelin—the protective insulation that allows the brain to communicate with the rest of the body.

Riley has spent most of his life in what his family lovingly calls their “mini ICU” at home, surrounded by medical equipment, devoted caregivers, and an incredible support system.

Today, he relies on a ventilator, a feeding tube, and round-the-clock breathing treatments, chest therapy, and medications to remain healthy.

Yet none of those challenges define who Riley is.

Despite his health obstacles, Riley’s spirit and love of life shines! He understands everything spoken to him and can communicate with eye blinks and expressions. He loves to cheer for his favorite team, the Florida Gators. He also has four small dogs that entertain him, along with siblings, nieces, and nephews he cherishes. He is happiest when surrounded by family!

Thanks to Builders Care, Riley’s small bedroom has now been expanded to create more space for accessibility and care.

Over The Moon Room’s project will take the next step with a bedroom update to include Gator décor and personal touches to brighten up his room. We are excited to be a part of bringing freedom and joy to Riley’s world.
